NEW Electric Cylinder - LZ 70 with 100% duty Cycle

The parallel-type RK linear cylinder LZ 70 P has just been added to the heavy-duty cylinder family. Considerations over pneumatic cylinders are now becoming easier with the release of RK Rose+Krieger more compact electric cylinders with servo drive.

After the resounding success of the smaller electric cylinder LZ 60 with parallel-mounted drive, RK Rose+Krieger is now offering a parallel type of the larger version: LZ 70 P. In contrast to its little brother, the LZ 70 P can be combined with any servo motor and its compact dimensions are similar to a pneumatic cylinder of equal power output. Like the entire RK linear technology range, the LZ 70 P boasts 100% duty cycle. This makes it equally suitable for simple adjustment tasks and for high-precision and dynamic positioning. Equipped with a ball screw, the LZ 70 P handles compressive/tensile forces of up to 5,000 N with a top speed of 1 m/s and acceleration of 10 m/s². Using a suitable adapter, this interesting alternative to a pneumatic cylinder can be operated with a variety of servo motors. The customer is able to use his existing motors, which saves time and procurement costs and furthermore enables him to rely upon existing know-how in relation to implementation, starting up, service and documentation already in use.

Like all heavy-duty cylinders, the LZ 70 P can be supplied with IP 65 protection rating, special stroke lengths and with external magnetic switches. RK Rose+Krieger can also supply complete systems comprising linear cylinder, drive train and controller, with excellent IP protection ratings. Customers requiring a high-end product should choose the appropriate configuration with recirculating-ball spindle and servo motor with absolute encoder. Coverable slots on both sides of the RK linear cylinder provide flexibility for the mounting of attachments – alternatively via slot stones or trunnions. Fork joints are also available for covered securing of magnetic switches for precise position determination. The magnets themselves are integrated in the cylinder as standard. The service life of the energy-efficient heavy-duty cylinder is currently up to 15,000 kilometers or at least 10,000 operating hours.

Stainless Steel Ex d (Flameproof) Enclosures

While unrelated to Rose+Krieger Linear, Clamping and Profiles, I thought it would still be worthwhile showing off some handywork from our sister company Rose Enclosures.

These pictures show a fully stainless steel enclosure used in mining. As you could understand every detail around sparking, flammability and mitigating catastrophic events must be covered – and certified.






This enclosure is “Ex d” certified which means:
Equipment construction is such that it can withstand an internal explosion and provide relief of the external pressure via flamegap(s) such as the labyrinth created by threaded fittings or machined flanges. The escaping (hot) gases must sufficiently cool down along the escape path that by the time they reach the outside of the enclosure not to be a source of ignition of the outside, potentially ignitable surroundings.
Equipment has flameproof gaps (max 0.006" propane/ethylene, 0.004" acetylene/hydrogen).

Robots, Frames and Workstations

Rose+Krieger Linear Motion Modules, Profiles and Clamping equipment can help in 1000’s of different applications. In this article we give an overview of some common applications within industrial and automation areas which you may find useful and which may even prompt you to start designing in straight away.

For Robot Grippers our small linear actuators can often be a worthy alternative to pneumatics. They are electronically controllable using 12-24VDC, include built-in in limit switches, can integrate clamping with a special Rose+Krieger device for clamping like pneumatic so that actuator motors don’t run on stall and potentiometer or encoder feedback.
Our most of our linear unis are available with spindles that have LH-RH spindle, so that a single motor can operate a centralised gripping/width adjustment motion.
Our large scale linear units offer an additional axis of flexibility to whole robot systems, by either mounting robot base to a long X-axis travelling unit, or being used as guides for traversing jigs and fixtures inside and out of robot cells.
Linear units can be integrated with BLOCAN aluminium profiles to give efficient loading/unloading solutions using manual or controlled dynamics. This is stiffer and versatile than standard steel frames and competitor aluminium systems, and remains versatile and reliable module integrated with your overall robotic/automation solution. For Linear Modules, we offer an extensive range which covers from small 18mm diameter tubular linear adjusters, through 0.5mm ball screw micro adjusters, to heavy load linear units capable of carrying over 1x tonne up to 50m. Our range includes DC, stepper and servo motors with all proper motor to linear unit couplers and motor adaptors. For Machine Frames, our profile was developed “for” machines. We have decades of examples of the successful use of our BLOCAN profile in machines and frames. Our joint and fixing methods are dynamically rated and require no drilling or tapping to enable swift assembly and easy re-use/adjustment. Our BLOCAN range is whole and includes all parts necessary to complete entire frame builds without the need to source or ‘fit’ additional components from elsewhere: this includes sliding doors, interlocks, profiles to clamp various thickness infills, feet and castors, clamps and base plates, integration with electronic height adjustable columns, heavy duty profiles, and easy connection to Rose+Krieger Linear Units. The Rose+Krieger Assembly Workstations range uses our extensive range of components within our BLOCAN Profile range. Coupled with the inclusion of Schaefer and other tried and tested desking equipment brands in our standard range, you can create safe and long lasting assembly benches for Lean production, one-off versatility or high repetition assembly. We can assist in the integration of electronic columns into workstations for height adjustment for different staff, or to avoid repetitive work being one at the same height.
